London – Tang Ting Twinning Association UK, a UK-based community organisation, has provided financial support to manage Quarantines at various places in ward no 2 of Madi Rural Municipality of Kaski district, West Nepal.
Tang Ting Twinning Association (TTTA) UK donated Nepalese Rupees 191,352.00 (£1270.00) through the mediation of Deputy Mayor of London Borough of Barnet & Trustee of TTTA Councillor Lachhya Bahadur Gurung. These Centres are being used to house people who are returning to their villages from abroad
According to Prakash Gurung, Head Master of the Himalayan Milan Secondary School at Tang Ting, the donated money was spent to purchase mattresses, quilts and kitchen appliances to set up 20 beds in Tang Ting, Setikhola and Ghyamrang villages. Similarly, surgical masks, sanitiser, temperature guns etc have also been procured for the Quarantine centers. The donation was provided in coordination with the Ujyalo Multipupose Learning Center and ward no 2 of the Madi Rural Municipality.
Chairman of the ward no 2 of the Madi Rural Municipality, Ekjung Gurung, thanked Tang Ting Twinning Association UK for their support to local communities at a time when they were combating the Corona pandemic. “We do hope that your assistance will help save precious lives by stopping the spread of the deadly virus,” he added.
TTTA has also built a day care centre, provided scholarships to poor students and financial support to elderly villagers. The Association also supported local communities to maintain a local micro hydro project, set up an e-library at the Himalaya Milan Secondary School and other community projects.
According to Nepal’s Health Ministry, over 14,000 people have tested Covid-19 positive in the country by 1st of July out of whom 30 have sadly died.
